<p>Proceeds from the tour will benefit Hexter Elementary School. Past years&#8217; proceeds have helped to afford a full-time art teacher and purchase a kiln, drying rack, 10 Orff musical instruments and new playground equipment. This year&#8217;s proceeds will benefit campus improvements deemed most critical by the school and the PTA.</p>

<p>The five homes included in this tour are: two mid-century modern homes, two modern new construction homes and one 1970’s contemporary home in Easton Place. &#8220;Meet and Greets&#8221; will be offered in some of the homes during the tour, where attendees can hear the architectural back-story of these homes from the architects, designers and or builders.<br />

<p>Plan now to attend a free presentation on Wednesday, February 23 from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Antioch Shrine Center, 107 East First Street, Dayton, Ohio, to learn about the variety of building types, styles, special characteristics and architectural features that define the “Ohio Modern” period. The program will include an overview of the statewide study with a focus on the research and recordation of over 500 Dayton-area buildings completed by the consultant team of Steven Avdakov, Deborah Griffin, Kathy Mast Kane and Nathalie Wright.</p>

PSPF will be presenting the Class 1 plaque to the Royal Hawaiian Estates HOA. Royal Hawaiian Estates (at the intersection of East Twin Palms and South Palm Canyon Drives) was designated Palm Springs&#8217; first residential historic district by the City Council in February of 2010.</p>

<p>Designed by the firm of Wexler &#038; Harrison in 1961, Royal Hawaiian Estates features a “tiki style” condominium complex of 40 units spread over five acres. The “tiki style” design elements include outrigger beams, jetting gables and A-frame roof lines. There will be a few condos open for viewing.</p>
<p>Mission of the Palm Springs Preservation Foundation is “to educate and promote public awareness of the importance of preserving the historical resources and architecture of the city of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley area.”</p>

<p>This year&#8217;s Denver Modernism Show features a special guest MC, Charles Phoenix, America&#8217;s favorite Histo-Tainer. He is back with a new retro slide show and more. There are some new events at this year&#8217;s show including Miss Modernism Pageant and Vintage Voltage Expo. There is also the 2010 Arapahoe Acres Home &#038; Garden Tour in conjunction with the show on August 28, 2010. Tour participant are invited to tour eight to twelve homes and gardens throughout south Denver&#8217;s historic mid century modern neighborhood between 1pm and 5pm. The tour costs $20. Tour tickets will be available at the Denver Modernism Show on Friday, August 27, 2010 and the morning of the tour (August 28, 2010).<br />

<p>The Sacramento Mid-Century Modern Home Tour will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010, showcasing 15 mid century modern residential and commercial buildings built between 1945 and 1970 in the South Land Park and adjacent neighborhoods of Sacramento. Tour participants are invited to visit the interior spaces of structures designed by architects and designers including: Jones + Emmons for Eichler Homes, Carter Sparks, Donald Thaden, George Muraki, designer George W. Haggett, designer Robert N. Hill, Rickey + Brooks, Bucky H. Fong, Herbert Y. Niiya, Albert Dreyfuss, Sooky Lee, Dean Unger, Harry J. Devine, Grant Caywood, and William Koblik.</p>
<p>In order to join the Sacramento Mid-Century Modern Home Tour, you will need to register at the Sacramento Executive Airport, a wonderful mid century modern building designed by renown Sacramento architect Leonard F. Starks. There will also be mid century modern related interpretive materials on display at this location. So be sure to check them out!</p>
<p>A portion of the proceeds will benefit Shorter Center South, who provides classes in a studio setting, taught by artists working in their own disciplines, for people with developmental disabilities.</p>

<p><strong>When:</strong> Saturday, June 26, 2010 &#8211; Registration begins at 9:00 am at the Sacramento Executive Airport at 6151 Freeport Boulevard. Participants will receive tour guidebooks upon check-in. Homes will be open to visitors from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.</p>
<p><strong>Where:</strong> The Land Park and South Land Park neighborhoods of Sacramento (easily accessible from the I-5, I-80, US-50, and CA-99).</p>
<p><strong>Cost:</strong> Tickets are $20 if purchased in advance, $25 if purchased the day of the tour. <p>George Perrouʼs art is inspired by mid-century animation, and gives nods to Miro, Kandinsky and Calder. Perrou&#8217;s is a style all his own, painting colorful abstractions of reality onto the canvas using retro and modern colors in acrylic. George lives and paints in the creative epicenter of Portland, Oregon.</p>
