Hairpin Legs by Ian Maclean

I have posted my bed building experience on this website and my Flickr page. I’d like to thank those who left nice comments on my bed. I’d also like to thank Ian Maclean, the owner of hairpinlegs.com. My bed would never have the classic mid century look without his hairpin legs. I ordered a set of four 8” stainless steel hairpin legs from him. I was very satisfied with the quality of these hairpin legs.

I ordered 2 tabletops from Ian Maclean in the summer of 2010. It took countless emails to even place an order. He then asked for payment upfront, let my money work for him for over 2 months to only – again after countless attempts to follow up – send me a terse note that the products could not be shipped because it would cost more than the items themselves. I would think it’d be reasonable to assume that if someone asks for payment upfront some kind of shipping routine is in place.
    No word of apology.
A most unpleasant experience from start to finish.

We have found that a better source for hairpin legs is:

They sell the legs for less and ship on time. The legs are great looking and built very well!

We have used them for several projects and find it very easy to work with everyone there.

try them out on your next project!

Seeing as the reviews of Mr. Maclean here are quite old, I thought I would throw my experience into the mix:

My order of 9 hairpin legs arrived on time and at a competitive price. Shipping was fast and free, which really helped sway my decision. Workmanship is impeccable and consistent, the legs are indistinguishable from each other. Materials are very stable and look like they will last for years. The only negative I can see is that the legs arrived covered in a thin layer of grease, no doubt a residue from the manufacturing process. After a quick clean, they were ready to install. Without hesitation, I would recommend hairpinlegs.com for any DIY projects and will be a return customer in the near future.
