		<description>These bowls are beautiful but please stay away from raised bowls.  They are linked with being a risk factor for dogs getting a horrible and deadly disease called Gastric dilatation and volvulus, commonly called &quot;Bloat.&quot;  They used to believe that large breed, deep chested dogs (esp great danes, shephards, etc) should be fed from an elevated bowl.  They found that these dogs had a greater chance of bloating if they were fed from a raised bowl.  The only dogs that should be fed from an elevated bowl are those that have megaesophagus.

As an emergency vet, I deal with this disease regularly.  It is not pretty.
