My mother-in-law suggested we’d get a gift card from JCPenney for Father’s Day, so we dragged ourselves to the mall over the weekend. As we were looking for a customer service, we wandered into the home section of the store – that’s when all these bright colors popped into my eyes!
I had no idea JCPenney had launched a Jonathan Adler merchandise line – and they don’t carry just a little bit! You can find furniture, bedroom décor, kitchen décor and even pet items (that’s important to me!). The collection is called “Happy Chic” featuring his signature bold/colorful patterns and fun designs.
I was just awing and wowing with everything I saw. I especially liked the bedding featuring birds, owl items and kitchen items. Although most items are reasonably priced (I’d still wait for them to go on sale or find coupons before buying anything), I thought the furniture collection seemed a bit high.
This mid-century modern inspired sofa called Crescent Heights Tufted Sofa was originally priced $2,895, on sale (as of June 14, 2013) for $1,735. That’s a little too much for thrift store shoppers/Craigslist addicts/estate sale goers (to find vintage MCM pieces, of course!) like us. The quality seems to be decent, so I guess that’s about the right price for anyone who wants a brand new designer piece. There are many more furniture pieces that you probably don’t see in stores – like this TV cabinet below. You can find them online.
Another pleasant surprise – around the corner was a display for Michael Graves collection featuring some small appliances, cookware and tabletop accessories.
I am in the market for pots and pans. I liked the enameled cast iron cookware.
Also new to JCPenney was “Design by Conran” collection, brands like Bodum and Pantone Universe. So, if you haven’t been to the “Home” section of JCPenney in a while (or never?), you may be pleasantly surprised. I sure was!
If you are buying anything from JCPenney, look for online coupons first! Also you can sign up a rebate website such as Ebates to get cash back (registration required). I personally like Ebates and use their site before to look for cash back and coupons. Currently Ebates offers 4% cash back for JCPenney.
